FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
2 July 2009
Dear Customers
You may recently have received an email letter from Jerry DiPietro, president of Tourco, informing you that with effect July 1, 2009 Tourco will no longer continue to operate and that all of the company’s booked business has been assigned to City Tours.
I am writing to let you know that already into the third day of this change the transition is running smoothly, client bookings have been safeguarded, reservations are being processed and the key members of the Tourco staff who have joined City Tours Maine are working as normal.
My name is Oscar Perez, many of you may know me, and I joined City Tours three years ago after having worked with Tourco for many years as their Director of Product Contracting, so I am very familiar with the company’s staff and operations.
City Tours is one of America’s largest inbound tour operators (50,000 plus passengers annually), a successful and financially stable company that has been in business for 30 years, with significant resources that will enable us to develop and grow the former Tourco business in the years to come. The company is a member of the Receptive Services Association of America, has its own fleet of motor coaches, vans, and contracted multi-lingual guides giving us the ability to quote competitively for any group or incentive business in addition to serving your FIT clients.
Let me now introduce you to the key staff members here at City Tours Maine, most of them familiar to you from their Tourco days.
First I am happy to announce that we have engaged Stephen Knight to look after our international sales and client relationships. Many of you know Stephen who was recently responsible for special projects at Discover New England and was formerly Senior Vice President for International Sales at Tourco. During his years at Tourco he also oversaw the company’s reservations and customer service departments and his experience and knowledge of that company and the industry will be invaluable to us.
Key personnel are:
Stephen Knight – Director of International Sales – email: Sknight@citytours.com
Tara DeLisle - International Sales – email: Tdelisle@citytours.com
